Nazi Christmas – an oxymoron?

Christmas u62nder the Nazis in Germany was not unlike Christmas at other times in that country. Hitler actually encouraged the traditional forms of celebration, with a certain melding of national socialist ideals. Thus we see photos of Hitler lighting holiday trees, parties with Saint Nicholas, and Wienachtschmucke–Christmas tree decorations–that reflected something not found in any Bible heretofore…

In any case, the Christmas  in North Star is a Julafton, or traditional Swedish celebration that Kai and Sophia use to try to blur the daily goings-on at the camp in which they are both obliged to spend the long months.
